The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) held a sectoral meeting to discuss the periodic update of the technical regulation that establishes standards for vegetable oils and fats commercialized in Brazil. The dialogue brought together representatives from industry, government bodies and technical experts with the objective of aligning regulatory standards with current sector practices and technological advances.

Anvisa's initiative seeks to modernize the guidelines governing the production, handling, storage and commercialization of vegetable oils and fats, ensuring compliance with international quality and safety standards. The technical regulation in question establishes specifications regarding composition, labeling, permitted additives and quality control procedures for these products.

This type of periodic update is fundamental to adapt Brazilian legislation to changes in industrial practices and updated scientific knowledge. The participation of the productive sector in this consultative process allows Anvisa to consider technical, economic and operational aspects relevant to the food industry.

The sectoral dialogue conducted by Anvisa follows the public consultation methodology that characterizes the agency's regulatory performance, seeking transparency and inclusion of stakeholders in the standard-setting process. The contributions collected during the meeting will support the review and possible update of technical requirements applicable to the vegetable oils and fats segment.

This action reaffirms Anvisa's commitment to regulatory harmonization and maintenance of high sanitary safety standards for vegetable oils and fats products available in the Brazilian market, benefiting consumers and producers through clear and updated standards.
